this few days i've been too busy worrying bout the non-existant heartworm that i even did not have the mood to go online. so, before i begin, what is a heartworm?
the life story of heartworm: well, its evil little life begins on a dog which is being bitten by a mosquito (which is the carrier). the worm (or maybe its the larvae?) will then burrow thru the dog's skin and then travel into the veins and finally to the heart. naturally, affected dogs might die from this diease. an onl fren told me that sg dogs are supposed to be on heartworm preventive tablet when young.
of coz, being a 'gan-joing' spider, i break out in cold sweat when i hear this. thinking in my mind that for the whole 8yrs lucky has nvr been put on heartworm prevention!!! i actually tot i was going to lose lucky. luckily a visit to the vet just now put everything right...whew!
but got to admit i was super-duper nervous just now. esp when dad told me to go to the clinic and register for lucky first. on top of tis, i still have to fake bravery, since dogs can sense fear. dogs have to go for a blood test to see if he's infected with heartworm. and there i was pondering for days how much blood they going to draw for lucky, i saw the vet holding this super big syringe (for lucky). my legs nearly give way! in the end it was only a tiny weeny drop of blood!!! what is wrong with dr tan? cant he just switch to a small syringe to avoid scaring me??
thank goodness he was tested heartworm negative. got to admit, we spend quite a bomb on him..hai. have to take it as using the money to buy assurance. also, no pain no gain. because of this trip we gained sth! :) not going to say more...
